About the Artist

I believe there are artists and art lovers. Artists being people who use various mediums to tell a story by means of texture, color, and perspective. Art lovers being people who can interpret the art and allow their imaginations to flourish.

My Name is Autumn, and this is a glimpse into Becoming Artist.

I enjoy the feel of raindrops on my tongue, days with my dogs, and how the wind feels as it swirls around me on a blustery day. In the background of my mind, my artistic nature has tended to ripple outward and on to others who have encountered my constructed creations. I take an idea and bring it to a tangible reality. What is most compelling for me is viewing the finished project, and feeling a sensation of gratitude within my core.

When in grade school, I would go to school early to help set up the art room for class and would tell my family how I hoped to be an artist one day. When I attended West Linn High School I was introduced to ceramics, watercolor and media art, and again the humanities led me racing to my family, reaffirming to them some day I want to be an artist. The reply was typically, “You don’t want to be an artist, you’ll starve.” Thinking that starving sounded pretty bad, I decided when attending P.C.C. I would focus my attention toward a more “normal” profession. After the placement test, it was evident I’ve been an artist all along. Studying design, composition and color theory was a normal and comfortable place for me to reside, reinforcing my ventures into the abstract with confidence.

Most of the time my more permanent creations involve paper products, various paints and inks. For the more temporary, My composition will come in the form of sidewalk art, which is usually someones original design, which I remaster with vibrant detail, using only chalk.

I see things which inspire me, and I experiment with translating my inspiration from concept to creation, spreading out across several formats. I’m fortunate to have open door invitations at a handful of local places, where I’m encouraged to radiate my self expression.

The journey has been extraordinary. I have met amazing people and some of them have become my mentors and inspirations, and some of my biggest supporters. This is my path, and legacy. As an artist, I have an opportunity to provide one of a kind experiences for the art lovers varied pallet, which feels very normal for me indeed.
